This is an interview that Gordon Higginson recorded with Jean Bassett in approximately 1989 at Stansted Hall. It runs for 1 hour and 4 minutes.
This interview formed the basis of the chapter on Gordon Higginson in Jean’s book “100 Years of National Spiritualism”. The book was published in 1990 and looks at the history and first 100 years of the Spiritualists National Union (SNU) of which Gordon was the President.
In the interview, Gordon discusses the fascinating story of how he became President and went on to save the Union and the Arthur Findlay College for future generations. He also talks about his early life, his wartime experiences, his work as a demonstrating medium plus the development of his physical mediumship.
This is one of the best interviews about Gordon himself and is of significant historical importance. It was recorded on a hand-held tape recorder so the quality is not that of a professional recording, and there is some handling noise. Nonetheless it is of good quality, and is well worth a listen as it gives us great insight into Gordon and the legacy he created.
